Wine review: Hutton Vale Farm Shiraz
I became a fan of Hutton Vale Farm last year after trying their wines for the first time, so when we were in the Barossa we visited and had the best time with Caitlin going through the wines. From afar I could feel the passion that went into these wines and visiting the cellar door only cemented that for me. So I was very excited to try their latest vintage and share it with you all. Starting with the Hutton Vale Farm Shiraz. Now Hutton Vale Farm doesn’t have a huge vineyard, so they only produce in years with good harvests. The benefit is that you get high-quality wine that is seriously special, and already has a bit of age on it. You could definitely continue to age this Shiraz, but I’m telling you now that you don’t need to wait if you don’t want to!
On the nose, the Hutton Vale Farm Shiraz is packed full of plum, cherry, spice and pepper. It’s beautifully complex and makes you want to dive in. When you do you’re rewarded with a taste sensation that is rich, generous and complex yet elegant. This wine has a beautiful length and a lovely balance between the fruit notes, spice and pepper. These notes all come together into a wine that you keep wanting to sip. If you are looking for a seriously special wine that is going to deliver, look no further than this gem of a Shiraz!
About Hutton Vale Farm
Hutton Vale Farm is in the Barossa Valley and is owned by the Angas family. They are renowned for their fine wine, quality wool, free-range natural pasture lamb and hand-made artisan produce. They are dedicated to the land on which they live and committed to enhancing the natural, cultural and community landscape.
Hutton Vale Farm was established all the way back in 1843 by John Howard Angas who was just 19 when he arrived in the Barossa. The Angas family remain pioneers who use sustainable practices to produce incredible wines capturing the true essence of the terroir. Now seventh-generation Stuart and Caitlin Angas are a brother and sister duo who are bringing the knowledge of the past and applying their skills to continue on the legacy. Caitlin makes a mean chutney too!
