How to create a prosecco bar

by The Cheeky Vino

A few weeks ago we had our very belated engagement party. It’s almost a year since we got engaged, but after the year everyone wanted an excuse to celebrate. So we hosted a big party (well as big as restrictions allowed) with plenty of food and wine. One of the things everyone talked about was the Pimp your Prosecco bar that I created for the event. So I thought I would share how to create a prosecco bar of your own!

Prosecco bars are such a fun way to serve drinks at a party, and are a perfect idea for the holiday season! Once set up your guests can grab their own, making it easier to host. It’s also perfect for those not drinking as they can pimp their soda water and join in on the fun! There are plenty of ideas on Pinterest, and many of them look like something out of a magazine. But I’m here to tell you it really isn’t too hard to create a prosecco bar of your own. So I thought I’d create a guide into how I did it so you can make your own!

What you’ll need

How to create a prosecco bar

The great thing about prosecco bars is that you can customise it to whatever you have on hand/what’s in season. I’ll go through details later, but the basics that you will need to make it happen are:

  • Prosecco (or Sparkling Wine if this is more your thing)
  • Liquids to add to the prosecco eg. juices, soda water, Aperol etc.
  • Glasses (wine glasses are best but you can use champagne flutes too)
  • Ice
  • Things to add to your prosecco eg. fruits, herbs and other garnishes

These are the basics. Get these and you have yourself a Prosecco bar!

If you want some inspiration, here are things I used to create a prosecco bar:

  • Prosecco
  • Ice
  • Glasses
  • Soda water
  • Aperol (for Aperol Spritz)
  • Juices – peach and orange (for bellinis and mimosas), as well as some berry puree which I created by blending frozen mixed berries with water
  • Garnishes – mint leaves, strawberries, sliced oranges and blueberries

How to assemble

Once you have all the elements for your Prosecco bar, you then need to set it up! Now you could go next level Pinterest with your set up, but I just pulled something together with things I had on hand and I think it ended up working quite well. So here’s what I did:

  1. Find a space to set up your bar. I used a bar cart with the Prosecco and glasses on a side table, but if you have a big table that will work too.
  2. Popped ice, prosecco and soda water in a big Champagne bucket (if you don’t have one you can use any large tub or a simple ice bucket from Kmart).
  3. Pour your juices into nice jugs or bottles. I used old gin bottles because we didn’t have enough jugs and these worked really well. Place these on the bar cart next to the Aperol if using.
  4. Place your garnishes in little bowls in front of the liquids. I used terracotta pots for consistency, but you could use whatever bowls you have lying around.
  5. Add your chosen decorations (if you want to go to the next level) and you’re done!

Decorations

If you want to add a bit of flair when you create a prosecco bar, you can add some fun decorations. I added a couple of things that were really easy and not expensive to create.

The first thing I did was create a sign. I got these blackboard signs from Kmart and used a silver marker to create my ‘pimp your prosecco sign’. To do this I just found a sign I liked on the internet and copied it shamelessly – but if you’re more creative than me you could totally make your own unique one!

The other thing I added was little signs on the juices so people knew what they were. I had some tags leftover from gifts and wrote the name of the juices on them in marker pen and then tied them to the bottles. Simple!

If you want to go next level extra, you can totally take this as far as you want. There are plenty of templates on Pinterest to use, or you could have fun decorating your own! I also popped a Champagne balloon next to the bar for a bit of fun. It was something I’d already bought for the party but I felt like it made sense to put it here. You can get it on Amazon.

In summary: It’s easy to create a prosecco bar!

I hope this article has helped you get inspired for creating your own prosecco bar. It’s actually a lot easier than it looks. You can really customise it to whatever you have on hand, and you can also choose how extra you go with the decorations. This would be a perfect thing to set up for your holiday celebrations, and would be great for a New Year’s party too!
