Wine review: Berton Vineyards Barbera 2021
Recently I was sent a few wines from Berton Vineyards to try and I felt like a kid in a candy store. There are so many wines I can’t wait to share with you all, including some amazing founding alternate varieties! I thought I would start with the Berton Vineyards Barbera 2021 because I haven’t had a Barbera in a little while and this one caught my eye. If you’re after a beautiful medium-bodied red to pair alongside your next Pizza or Pasta night – look no further than this wine! Not only is it affordable at $20 a bottle, it is also simply delicious.
On the nose, the Berton Vineyards Barbera 2021 has some beautiful notes of cherry, spice and a hint of floral. The cherry and spice follow through into the palate which also has a lovely plum note. I really enjoyed the play between the fruit notes and the subtle spice which really rounded out the wine. The palate itself is lovely and surprisingly soft. Those beautiful flavours linger long after you take a sip, which leaves you going back for more. Simply tasty is what this wine is!
About Berton Vineyards
Berton Vineyards was established in 1996 by Bob and Cherie Berton when they purchased land in the Barossa Valley. The vines struggled with getting enough water, and after a few years, they were able to produce their Bonsai Shiraz. In 2005 they decided to purchase a winery to process the grapes from this vineyard. Bob and Cherie joined with Jamie Bennett, Paul Bartholomaeus and James Ceccato to form Berton Vineyards the company.
Over the years they have expanded to work with growers across other regions of Australia, including Riverina, Coonawarra, Padthaway, Adelaide Hills, Swan Hill and Barossa.
You can purchase this wine from The Berton Vineyard website.
