I love Valentine’s Day because I honestly love any excuse to do something special. I am a hopeless romantic and so have always loved the hype around special days like this. My favourite way to celebrate is to cook a fancy meal and pair it with some delicious wine. So I thought I would share 5 wines for Valentine’s Day that I’d love to sip on. Whether you celebrate it or not, I think you’ll fall in love with these wines.
Clover Hill Vintage Rosé
Nothing says Valentine’s Day to me more than a bottle of bubbles, and when it comes to Australian Sparkling, Clover Hill is one of my favourites. Their wines are absolutely sensational and perfect for a special occasion. The Clover Hill Vintage Rosé is a wine we enjoyed on our Honeymoon when we visited the cellar door and one they also sent us home with a bottle of! So it holds a special place in my heart. I can’t think of any better bubbles to be sipping on. Rich notes of strawberry and citrus with hints of brioche come together in this fine, crisp and textural sparkling wine. Bubbles and chocolate anyone? Sign me up!

Clandestine Vineyards Pinot Noir
I don’t know why, but when I think of a red wine perfect for emulating love, I think of Pinot Noir. Maybe it is because I love it so much, but to me, Pinot is seriously special. It’s also perfect for celebrating whether you are having a pre-dinner drink or a nice meal. The Clandestine Vineyards Pinot Noir gets extra points for its love heart label perfect for Valentine’s Day, but it is a delicious option too! It’s got strawberry and florals on the nose and is packed full of fruity goodness on the palate. The wine has a great weight and texture making it perfect for pairing with your Valentine’s Day meal. Think duck or mushroom risotto and you’ve got the perfect lovers meal.

Lambert Estate Nordic Frost Riesling
As Valentine’s Day is in Summer, we have to have a white as an option! And what better way to celebrate than with a nice Riesling from the Eden Valley? The Lambert Estate Nordic Frost Riesling’s name comes from the idea that crisp, dry humour balances out the intensity in all relationships, making us love the most. Seems only fitting to enjoy a wine like this on Valentines Day! This wine delivers everything you want from a Riesling with fresh and vibrant acidity and notes of lemon and apple.

Leogate Estate The Lion’s Pride Rosé
It would hardly be a Valentine’s Day post without a Rosé, especially when I’m coming up with the list! What is more perfect than a pink sip on the day of love? Might I recommend this Rosé from Leogate Estate which is absolutely divine. Made using 100% Shiraz grapes, this wine is fresh and fruity with raspberry and watermelon. I love that it has a hint of spice and crisp acidity on the palate to balance this out, making it oh so refreshing. Perfect for sipping on at a picnic or before dinner with your special someone.
This wine is available at bottle shops across the country including Mr Liquor stores, Super Cellars, Bottler, Local Liquor Australia and other independent bottle shops.
Woodstock Wines Pilots View Shiraz
For lovers of something a little stronger, a little dark and broody, why not try the Woodstock Wines Pilots View Shiraz? This would be my husbands pick of the bunch. I know because he is obsessed with this wine due to its American Oak influence. But if you like heavier reds, I think you’ll love this one too! And if you’re planning a lovely rich meal, this will be right at home. This wine is vibrant yet complex with a luscious palate and lingering flavours. Perfect for indulging in with your loved one – if you’re willing to share.
