Wine review: Xavier Wines Pa Pa Pinot Noir 2024

I’m back after a few months without wine reviews, and we’re starting with a fruity and fresh Pinot at a great price point! I was sent this wine while I was still pregnant, and so I was pretty excited to give it a go now that I’m back being able to enjoy wine again! The Xavier Wines Pa Pa Pinot Noir 2024 is made with fruit from Mount Gambier and Heywood in Victoria,  a region I haven’t tried before. If you’re after a wine that is simply delicious and sure to be a crowd pleaser, particularly as we head into warmer months, this is your wine!

The Xavier Wines Pa Pa Pinot Noir 2024 is vibrant in its colour as well as its flavours, starting with its ruby red hue. It’s more on the fruity side of the Pinot spectrum with zippy acidity and a nice, refreshing palate. Notes of tart cherry and cranberry dominate with a floral aroma on the nose. There’s also a hint of earthiness in the palate, which balances out those fruity notes nicely. This is the kind of wine that’s perfect for cracking open with friends to enjoy in the afternoon or early evening, and could even be chilled if you’d like to enjoy it as the weather heats up! It’s the kind of wine you don’t need to overthink opening, just sip and enjoy.

About Xavier Wines

At the heart of Xavier Wines is winemaker Xavier Goodridge’s belief that great wine begins in the vineyard and should speak honestly of the land it comes from. In Gippsland’s Maffra, on a vineyard first planted in 1987, Xavier has spent years nurturing the soils back to life through organic farming, creating a landscape where Pinot Noir and Chardonnay thrive with character and purity. His approach in the winery is refreshingly simple with minimal intervention, gentle ageing in old French oak, and a trust in the natural process. This allows the fruit to shine without distraction. Beyond his home vineyard, Xavier’s PA PA range celebrates friendships and collaboration with like-minded growers in Mount Gambier and Henty, regions whose limestone soils bring a unique vibrancy to the wines. Together, these expressions reflect not just Xavier’s craft, but his vision of wine as a story of place, people, and the joy of connection.
