Wine review: Stella Bella Suckfizzle Chardonnay
Recently I was sent a few wines from Stella Bella to try and the Stella Bella Suckfizzle Chardonnay caught my eye right away. This wine comes from a small southern and unique Margaret River and is influenced by winds of the Southern Ocean, creating wines with distinct flavour, character and age-ability. I didn’t want to open such a special wine just for anything, so I decided to treat my husband to it over the weekend before Valentine’s Day. He isn’t a big sparkling wine drinker, so a glass of Chardonnay is definitely the way to his heart. Honestly, he’s lucky I love him because this wine was almost too good to share.
The Stella Bella Suckfizzle Chardonnay is an absolutely beautiful, complex and textured Chardonnay. On the nose, there are notes of salty sea spray along with lime and lemon with a hint of floral notes. On the palate, these notes do follow through but are nicely balanced by oak influence which adds a cashew nuttiness. This is what I love about this wine: it’s surprising and seriously delivers. The lively citrus and mineral acidity come together with the oak influence that adds a beautiful layered texture. This is the kind of wine that is mouthwatering and powerful. A wine that keeps you going back to unpack it. I absolutely adored this Chardonnay – the notes were something I haven’t really experienced before especially from an Australian Chardonnay. So if you are after something different, definitely check this out.
