Have you tried Savarro before? I hadn’t until I visited the Yarra Valley earlier this year and went to Soumah for a wine tasting. We took our bridal party here the day before our wedding, most of which are not big fans of white wine. But I have to tell you, the Savarro blew most of them away, so much so that they went home with a few bottles. And if that isn’t a great review I don’t know what is! So I was so excited to receive a bottle of the Soumah Single Vineyard Savarro to try at home because I’d forgotten how good it was. So now I want to tell you all about it so you can enjoy it too!
Soumah has a great range of varieties they offer. They have the classics – Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah and Viognier, but also focus on styles from Northern Italy such as Barbera, Brachetto, Nebbiolo and Pinot Grigio. This is what I love about their wines – you can try something you wouldn’t normally find in the Yarra Valley.
Soumah focuses on producing single-vineyard wines with quality over quantity as a core value. Their wines are elegant and made with a passion that truly shines through the end result.
The Soumah Single Vineyard Savarro 2021 seriously delivers on all fronts and makes for the perfect Summer wine. On the nose, it is beautifully floral and has flavours of lemon and lime on the palate. Oh so refreshing! It has a hint of spice at the finish along with crisp acidity adding something surprising yet delicious. It is simply a delight to drink, and all too easy to polish off.
In terms of food pairings, think light dishes perfect for Summer. Apertivo, vegetable dishes or salads would be the perfect pairing.
