That’s probably why this wine is so special. My eyes locked on it when my partner unpacked his box and I knew I had to make an excuse for us to drink it on our own. Ok, so I’m bad at sharing good wine, aren’t we all? Normally we don’t need an excuse to crack open a bottle but with this one, I knew I didn’t want to try it on just any Sunday night. It seemed like it would be something special and it certainly was!

Why I loved it

Where to begin with the Randal Tomich Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir 2018. Well for starters, think about how good the price is for a Pinot Noir! It’s hard to find such good value on boutique wines, especially pinot, and this one goes for such a good price per bottle even if you aren’t part of the loyalty program! For a cool-climate Pinot Noir, this is a steal!

On the nose, this wine smelt great! Think red berries and cherry with a hint of Pinot earthiness. Then you take your first sip and you get a soft, fruity style. It’s juicy but doesn’t have the tannins of a big red. This makes it light and delicate, whilst still having complexity from oak. This wine has a great long flavour which really lingers and adds to the experience of drinking the wine.

If you love Pinot Noir, this wine is for you. It won’t break the bank and its juicy red fruit flavours and length will leave you wishing you bought another bottle, or ten!

What to enjoy it with

Because of its complex flavours along with some oak influence it lends itself to eating with a meal, however, the lightness of the wine could easily make it the perfect pre-dinner drink. You could even get a little fancy and cool it slightly before serving for the perfect summer sip!

If you are wanting to pair it with food, think of the matches that are perfect with Pinot Noir. Duck is always a winner, but also dishes such as pasta with truffle oil or risotto. Anything with a bit of richness will go perfectly with this wine as it will cut through this with ease.
