It feels like it has been a while since I’ve posted about a Shiraz. I have to admit I haven’t been drinking many of them lately as it has felt too hot for them. I’ve been turning my attention to lighter wines. But the other day I was craving a Shiraz for some reason (might have been all that talk about BBQ) and so when I was sent a few wines from Orbis Wines to try, I decided to crack into their Shiraz first. And I have to say it did not disappoint!
This wine was seriously delicious and made me rethink why I don’t drink a lot of Shiraz from McLaren Vale. But not only was the wine great but the label and cork design really caught my eye! I love a good label as we know, and these bottles are seriously eye-catching. There is such a nice story behind them too which we’re going to dive into.

What I loved about the Orbis Wines Whole Bunch Shiraz
So now that we’ve discussed why I love the label so much (and the cute cork which will definitely be living in my cork collection), let’s get into what is in the bottle. Because this wine may look great, but it tastes even better.
The Orbis Wines Whole Bunch Shiraz 2021 is an absolutely beautiful Shiraz. On the nose, I got cherry and blueberry with a hint of spice. Those bright berry fruits were really inviting and made me want to dive into the wine. On the palate, the wine is really lively and full of expression. Those flavours followed through, and it was quite juicy with fruit up front. I loved that this was balanced out by spice at the end.
This Shiraz is full-bodied but I loved how balanced it was. It was complex yet the sort of wine that was just plain enjoyable to drink. Each sip delivered on flavour and I loved opening up this wine from start to long, lingering finish.
I think this wine would be a great one to pop away for a couple of years to see how it develops. It is still young and I am sure it will deliver even more in the years to come. If you are impatient like me, however, it is still drinking beautifully now.
What to enjoy it with
The Orbis Wines Whole Bunch Shiraz 2021 is a great food wine. That full-body (14.8% to be exact) makes it the kind of wine that is going to be a lot more enjoyable with a meal. Its flavours lend it to those classic Shiraz pairings. Think of a nice BBQ steak or braised beef. Roast lamb would also be a great match for this wine. Think big and bold flavours in your meal to match this bold yet juicy wine.
In summary: Orbis Wines Whole Bunch Shiraz
The Orbis Wines Whole Bunch Shiraz 2021 is a seriously delicious wine that delivers on looks and flavour. I loved unpacking it, and although it is full-bodied, you don’t notice it as it has a lovely balance of flavours. The juicy fruit is smoothed out by spice and wrapped into a long and lingering finish. This wine is best enjoyed with a meal, but would certainly up the ante on your next BBQ.
