Wine review: Kurtz Family Vineyard Light Pass Grenache
I love a good Grenache, and it’s been a while since I’ve had one. So when I was sent some of the wines from Kurtz Family Vineyard to try, I had to start with the Kurtz Family Vineyard Light Pass Grenache. We loved visiting Kurtz Family Vineyard when we went to the Barossa a few years ago. Steve was so hospitable and his wines were a highlight of the trip. He produces beautiful wines that are well-priced and simply delicious. And this Grenache is no different. It’s a great lighter-style red that you can enjoy chilled and goes beautifully with salads, grilled pork or cured meats.
On the nose, the Kurtz Family Vineyard Light Pass Grenache has lovely fruity aromas of strawberry, raspberry and plum. There’s also a hint of floral and spice. The palate is light and refreshing with vibrant fruity notes dominating the flavours. Tannins are soft and plush, and the finish is nice, bright and crisp. This wine is perfect for enjoying young with its vibrant notes, so you don’t need to wait to open it and enjoy it!
About Kurtz Family Vineyard
Kurtz Family Vineyards has a rich history dating back to the 1930s when Steve Kurtz’s Great Grandfather began growing grapes on the very same block that is still worked today in the Light Pass subregion. This was passed down through the generations and now Steve carries on the legacy.
Steve manages the vineyard and produces the wines on his own, constantly striving to learn new techniques and apply them to his delicious wines. He brings countless years of experience and knowledge to every wine he produces.
