Kings of Prohibition Shiraz

by The Cheeky Vino

The Kings of Prohibition Shiraz is a crowd-pleasing wine that is sure to tick all the boxes at your next catch up over dinner with friends. I absolutely love a fun label or bottle design, but this wine is delicious on the inside too! I brought it along to a BBQ with friends and it was a great conversation starter, but also the kind of wine that is really approachable.

The Kings of Prohibition Shiraz is a wine from Calabria Family Wines. The Calabria Family Wines story began in 1945 with founders Francesco and Elisabetta Calabria and is still carried on by the third generation of the family today. They established Calabria Family Wines 75 years ago with values of hard work and innovation at the heart of everything they do.

This Shiraz is bold, rich and packed full of flavours. I loved the cherry and plum notes on the nose and glass along with a nice oaky spice to round out the juiciness. The wine was quite balanced in this way with a lovely hint of chocolate at the back to the palate and nicely structured tannins.

At $23.95 this wine is the sort of wine that you don’t need to think twice about opening. It’s drinking well now and so is the sort of wine that you can bring along to enjoy with friends and be confident that it is a crowd-pleaser. Whether it is a BBQ, slow-roasted beef or even some pizzas, this wine is sure to be enjoyed. I know we found it all too easy to polish off over dinner!
