Wine review: Evenfall Pinot Noir 2022

I love a good Pinot, and if you like Pinot too and haven’t tried Tasmanian Pinot before, take this as your sign. Tasmanian Pinot can be harder to find, particularly overseas, but it’s well worth seeking out, especially if it is a wine like the Evenfall Pinot Noir 2022. This Pinot is more on the fruity and bright side of Pinot rather than earthy, making it perfect for enjoying as we head into Spring. Its bright and vibrant notes go perfectly with Spring dining, and would be right at home with roast or grilled lamb, or even roast salmon. I know, pairing red wine with fish, but don’t knock it until you try it!

On the nose, the Evenfall Pinot Noir 2022 has lovely notes of red fruit, think raspberry and cranberry dominating. These fruit notes dominate the palate along with a hint of strawberry and are nicely balanced by a hint of almond and influence from well-integrated oak. This wine is bright and vibrant with a crisp finish but still has a lot going on, making it a great wine to sip on. It’s juicy without being too juicy, and vibrant and crisp yet still complex. Simply delicious!

About Evenfall

Evenfall is a newcomer to the Tasmanian wine scene, opening their restaurant and tasting room in late 2023. Evenfall is situated on one of the oldest vineyard sites in the Tamar Valley, planted at Legana by Richard Power in the 1972. It was first known as Powercourt Vineyard, later Elmslie, and now Evenfall. The 2022 vintage is the first release under the Evenhall label and has Liam McElhinney from Tas Vintners as the winemaker.
