Grenache has to be one of my favourite red wine varieties, so I was really excited to try the Clandestine Vineyards Hearts & Minds Grenache 2021!
Clandestine Vineyards’ focus is to represent 100% varietal wines from single vineyard sites across the best sub-regions for those varietals. Growers are chosen for best organic vineyard practices, zero harmful pesticides/herbicides and commitment to sustainability.
I’ve really been enjoying sipping my way through their range, but recently they sent me a bottle of their Grenache to try and I had to drop everything and give it a sip. I love a good Grenache, even more so when it has a beautiful label, and so I got serious heart eyes for this bottle.
The Clandestine Vineyards Hearts & Minds Grenache 2021 was only released this week and uses fruit from McLaren Vale – arguably one of the key regions for Grenache in Australia. The wine is made from a single bush vine planted in 1950! With old vines and sandy soils, the grapes produced are more aromatic and concentrated making for a truly special wine!
This wine is part of Clandestine Vineyards top tier range which is all about the heart and mind connecting over a brilliant bottle of wine.
The Clandestine Vineyards Hearts & Minds Grenache 2021 is a seriously delicious drop. On the nose, it has beautiful fruit notes of cherry, raspberry and strawberry. This followed through into the palate which is balanced by spice (think cinnamon and clove) and a lovely earthiness that makes the wine less juicy.
The wine is medium-bodied with a nice balance of acidity and silky tannins. The finish is long with a hint of spice. I loved how balanced the wine is overall. The flavours kept me coming back sip after sip.
The Clandestine Vineyards Hearts & Minds Grenache 2021 retails at $60 and is available from Clandestine Vineyards.
