Christmas is fast approaching and if you’re like me you may not have quite gotten to all your Christmas shopping. It can be hard to find the perfect gift sometimes, especially if you like to get it just right! So to help you with your search, I’ve put together a list of great Christmas gifts for wine lovers.
These gifts are all things that, to be quite honest, I would love for myself (or already have). And so I think this list is sure to help you get that special someone the perfect wine-related gift! No matter what your budget is, there are plenty of fun and practical wine-related gifts out there that are sure to put a smile on their face!
Wine gift box or hamper
I’ve been loving a good gift box lately. They have just the right amount of whimsy and excitement tied to them. I also love that there are so many choices out there to suit different budgets and tastes – whether they like red, white or just really love cookies! Gift boxes are a great way to bring some Christmas cheer (and good wine) to a wine lover. They’re also great if you can’t see that special someone in-person due to border closures. Just send a little box of love their way instead!
There are so many great ones out there but I personally love this one from Covert Wine Co that I was sent. They’ve got a great range of hampers to suit different price points and tastes. I got the Red and White hamper which came with two wines (a red and a white), a Christmas candle and some delicious cookies! If that doesn’t spread Christmas cheer I don’t know what will!
Personalised glasses
As a wedding present, we were given two personalised wine glasses with our initials from Mon Verre and they have become our most used wine glasses. I absolutely love the shape of them and the minimalist personalisation. Monogramming is always a good time, so why not monogram your wine glasses? I love the idea of a personalised gift as it feels more thoughtful, and I can guarantee they will use it!
If you want something more personalised, there are plenty of fun wine glasses on Hard to Find that have funny sayings on them too. It just depends on what you’re after!
Wine tasting experience
With sustainability top of mind in 2021, you may have people on your list who don’t want a physical gift. Or they might not need anything and simply love experiences. The one good thing to come out of this pandemic is the rise of online and at-home experiences. So why not gift someone a wine experience?
There are plenty of companies that are hosting at-home wine tastings which are really fun. You get the wines sent in the mail and dial into the tasting to be taken through the wines. These interactive experiences are a great gift as they aren’t too expensive but also offer something unique. I love what the team at Virtual Cellar Doors are doing if you’re looking for a fun tasting.
There are also some great at-home wine experiences you can try. Hugh Hamilton offers a couple of very fun at-home experiences which give you everything you need to have a great night in. I loved their blending kit which let you blend your own wine. Millon Wines also has an at-home wine tasting experience which gives you everything you need to try their Impressionist series at home.
Wine resources
For lovers of wine, why not give them something that helps them learn more about wine? There are some great resources out there that will be sure to help them on their wine journey:
- A wine tasting journal
- Wine Folly Magnum Edition (the bible and a great coffee table book)
- Halliday Wine Companion 2022
- Wine Simple: A Totally Approachable Guide from a World-Class Sommelier
A fun decanter
Who doesn’t love a decanter? Not only is it practical for aerating your wine, but it also makes for a great piece of home decoration. Personally, I feel you can never have too many, which is why I have them coming out of my ears!
There are so many different designs out there, so no matter what your budget you can find one. Whether it is under $100 or over $1000 – trust me there is something for everyone. One of my favourites we have is our Duck-anter because who doesn’t love a novelty Decanter? If anything it will be a point of conversation around the dinner table.
A wine aerator or stopper
As something more practical, why not consider something they’ll use time and time again. Every wine lover needs a good aerator and wine stopper in their arsenal. We love our VinOair and it makes for a great affordable gift idea. Simply chuck it in the top of your bottle of wine and you don’t even need a decanter! You can grab it here.
Or you can get them some wine stoppers so that they can preserve their wine. This means if they don’t finish a bottle they can pump the air out of it to keep the wine fresh for longer. I love this one from Le Creuset!
Picnic essentials
With Summer well and truly here it’s time to turn our eye to picnics. What better gift to give than something they can use while soaking up the sunshine with friends? I love these insulated wine glasses that keep your wine cold and don’t spill. But why not go the extra mile and get them a picnic table that will hold their wine glasses and bottle of wine too? We have one of these and have gotten so much use out of it! You can also get a monogrammed one on Hard to Find.
Fun wine merchandise
I am all for wine apparel, and I think these fun gifts for wine lovers make a great stocking filler or secret Santa present. There are so many funny shirts, socks and even jewellery to show their love of wine. I love this hoodie blanket which would be perfect for colder weather and I personally love this apron too!
I’ve also dabbled in creating some fun wine-related merchandise which you can find on Society 6. There are all sorts of things to show their love of wine – whether it’s coasters, art prints or phone cases.
The gift of good wine
And finally, if all else fails, why not get them a nice bottle of wine? For a list of Christmas gifts for wine lovers would not be complete without stating the most obvious gift of all! Sometimes this can be the best gift, especially if you know what they like. They can enjoy it with firends and family, or simply put it away to enjoy on a special occassion. If you want it to be more personal, why not add a note to your card explaining why you chose that wine for them? Maybe it is because you really loved it throughout 2021, or simply knew they would love it. Or maybe it’s the only wine they drink!
This is a great way to support our Australian wineries, so if you are grabbing a bottle, why not buy from the winery direct? Many are doing some great deals leading into the holiday season, and so you can pick up one for your friend and one for yourself! All while supporting our industry that has done it really tough in the last couple of years!
In summary: Christmas gifts for wine lovers 2021
I hope this list of Christmas gifts for wine lovers has helped to inspire you for your Christmas shopping! There are so many great gifts out there to suit any budget or need. I’d love to hear from you if I’ve missed any other great gift ideas!
