Sometimes it can be hard to find affordable Chardonnay that you know is going to be delicious. It can be hard to find something that will be crowd-pleasing, not overoaked and affordable. But it is possible, and the Bailey Wine Co Chardonnay 2017 is proving this to us all! We opened this wine on a weeknight and I can say it did not disappoint. But it is the sort of wine you can just crack open without having to think too hard about it. Just make sure you have more than one bottles on hand because it’s certainly going to be a crowd-pleaser!

Bailey Wine Co is a family business owned by Time and Kate Bailey and based in Coonawarra in South Australia. Why I loved the Bailey Wine Co Chardonnay 2017

The Bailey Wine Co Chardonnay 2017 is a beautifully balanced Chardonnay that offers something for everyone whether you love oaked or unoaked Chardonnay. It was quite fruit-forward on the nose with tropical fruit flavours, but it also had those oaky and creamy tastes and flavours of a classic Chardonnay. My partner loves an oaked Chardonnay whilst I like something more balanced, but this wine got the tick of approval from us both!

I loved how textured this wine was. It was quite creamy in the mouth, but the fruitiness of the flavours really balanced this out. Each mouthful was complex and the flavours lingered long after you took a sip. It was an absolute delight to drink, and at $25 a bottle, it is an absolute steal for a Chardonnay this delicious!

What to enjoy it with

We enjoyed the Bailey Wine Co Chardonnay 2017 with dinner on a Monday night, and I think pairing it with food is the way to go. I had made a roast chicken with potatoes and this wine was the perfect pair – it definitely took our meal to the next level!

If you weren’t in the mood for roast chicken, creamy pasta is always a winner with Chardonnay. Bailey Wine Co recommend mushroom and I think this would be delicious! Otherwise, you could just go for some stinky blue cheese!

I loved how balanced this wine was between its fruity flavours and creaminess that is classic to Chardonnay. Whether you like oaked Chardonnay or not, this wine is sure to please, especially when paired with a tasty meal!
