The Pink Prosecco 2020 is the perfect wine for summer. It looks, feels and tastes like you’re in Italy, with fresh zingy fruit and crisp acidity. This vibrant wine is sure to be a summer hit, best enjoyed as a way to cool down when catching up with friends.

Summer is officially here, and I have a wine that will take your summer celebrating to the next level. Let me ask you, is there anything more summer-appropriate than a refreshing Prosecco and Rosé? What about when you combine the two? Well, that would be next level! This is exactly what the Pink Prosecco 2020 from Grupetto Vino delivers on, and it is set to make your Summer even better.

You may be wondering how we can have Pink Prosecco? Up until recently, the Italian Government has not allowed Prosecco to be made in the pink style. But they have now allowed it, so watch out for these sorts of wines popping up all over the place. Luckily for us, we can enjoy this style of wine in an Aussie edition with one of the cutest wine labels I’ve ever seen. It makes me dream of Summer in Italy, and also made me think I was there while I sipped! This wine looks smells and tastes of a Summer holiday, just in time for that final lead up to the silly season.

How is it made?

You might be wondering how they make the Pink Prosecco 2020 the colour it is? This wine was made using the classic Prosecco grape Glera in the Hunter Valley. Minimal intervention was made allowing the fruit flavours to shine. The colour actually comes from a small amount of Shiraz being added to the wine. The result? This vibrant pink hue that screams Summer. The addition of Shiraz also means that there are different flavours and added complexity in the wine.

Why I loved the Pink Prosecco 2020

The Pink Prosecco 2020 is just fun in a glass. On the nose, I got tropical fruits and passionfruit along with the classic apple and pear flavours of Prosecco. This immediately made me think of Summer and good times. Flavour-wise, I loved how crisp the wine was. It is a total myth that pink wines are sweet, and this wine was super crisp and refreshing. Crispy apple, citrus, pear and those tropical fruits shone through once again and made for a taste sensation. This wine was so refreshing and easy to drink. It is perfect for long Summer days spent at the beach or outside with friends.

This wine was delicious, but it is also really affordable. At $25 a bottle, you don’t have to think too much about opening it. You can also purchase a Gift Box that is as cute as the label if you want to give it to a special someone for Christmas. Personally, I have kept the box because I love the design so much!

What to enjoy it with

Pink Prosecco 2020

The great thing about the Pink Prosecco is that you don’t have to enjoy it with food. It would be perfect for sipping on during the day or enjoying with friends before dinner. This refreshing wine really doesn’t need a pairing to be enjoyed – simply some warm weather!

If you want to pair it with something, I’d suggest some aperitivo like the Italians do. Think meats and cheeses along with some fresh fruit and olives. Anything goes really! This is my favourite way to eat in Summer and I think this wine would be perfect with a nice picnic lunch and friends.

In summary: Pink Prosecco 2020 is sure to be a hit!

Now that we can have Pink Prosecco, I think we’ll see a lot more available more widely. However, this Australian Edition is absolutely perfect as a Summer wine! It’s refreshing, easy drinking and packed full of flavour. Perfect for enjoying with friends before dinner, or even over a long picnic lunch. The label and what’s inside is sure to transport you to your perfect Italian summer!
