The Miraval Côtes de Provence Rosé is one of the most refreshing and delicious Rosés I’ve had in a long time. Fruity and floral, it ends with a perfect dry acidity that makes it lively, fresh and leaves you wanting another glass. This is Summer in a glass, and with a cute bottle to boot, it’s worth the splurge!

This week I wanted to review another wine that I had when I hosted a wine night with friends. We had the best time trying all the different wines, but this one particularly stood out. Probably because it was a. the only Rosé and b. it was a wine I’ve wanted to try for a really long time.

Why have I wanted to try this wine so badly? Well, it’s two-pronged, and I’ll tell you now it has nothing to do with its celebrity status, as I actually had no idea about that. It comes down to the bottle. I just really love nice bottles ok, and the bottle design on the Miraval Côtes de Provence Rosé is on point. But more than that, I don’t often splurge on wine unless I know it’s going to be good. Now, I know for some of you a $30 bottle of Rosé isn’t a splurge, but for me, if I’m going to spend that sort of money I need to know it will be good.

Luckily I managed to ‘help’ my sister pick a wine for the wine night and she decided if I bought her a coffee we would be square. She got a coffee and I got to try that wine I’ve wanted to try for ages. Seems fair right?

I didn’t know the Miraval Côtes de Provence Rosé was a celebrity

Miraval Côtes de Provence Rosé - the Brangelina love child

So when I first decided I needed to try the Miraval Côtes de Provence Rosé I had no idea who owned it. Turns out that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie like Rosé as much as me because they have stolen my dream and bought a winery in Provence. Rude – I definitely had this idea first! But lucky for them, they have slightly more funds to play with than I do, and so mine will have to remain a dream while I sip on their reality. It does make me wonder what has happened to the winery in the divorce – who got the winery in Provence? That would have been my priority personally.

Sadly Brangelina are no more, but lucky for us this incredible Rosé remains. It recently placed in Wine Spectator’s Top 100, so it’s nothing to discount just because the winery is owned by celebrities. In fact, I think the wine stands so well on its own, it’s almost better not to know about the owners. Having celebrities owning the winery almost makes it feel less authentic in a way, but don’t be fooled. This is a seriously good wine!

Why I loved it

I was surprised by just how deliciously complex this wine was. It had everything I wanted out of a Provence Rosé but so much more! The colour is a dead giveaway that the Miraval Côtes de Provence Rosé is from Provence. That salmon colour looks oh so pretty in the unique bottle that is almost shaped like a sparkling wine bottle. With the gold trim and minimalist label, you can see why it caught my eye.

On the nose, you get great fruit and floral flavours. Think raspberries, strawberries and citrus fruit. These flavours are what you get in the wine as well, but they are complemented by a really nice acidic hit that makes for a crisp and lingering finish. The wine is fresh and vibrant with enough complexity to keep you wanting more, and not too much acidity that it overpowers the other flavours.

So why should you spend a little more on the Miraval Côtes de Provence Rosé than others? Well if the bottle isn’t enough to sell you, the wine is super refreshing, vibrant and just plain delicious. I’m not usually for spending extra when I can get a decent bottle for less, but with this wine, I feel it’s worth spending a little more.

What to enjoy it with

Miraval Côtes de Provence Rosé - the Brangelina love child

The best way to enjoy the Miraval Côtes de Provence Rosé is whilst doing any activity you can imagine yourself doing in the South of France. Sipping wine with a long lunch? Yep. Watching the sunset over the water? You bet. Lounging by the pool of an afternoon? Perfect. This wine goes perfectly with Summer sun, great weather and the outdoors. You could even share it with your friends if you felt so inclined!

I think this wine goes really well on its own, but there are plenty of foods it would go well with too. Fish dishes, especially raw salmon or tuna, would be perfect. You could also pair this wine with a nice salad or some grilled chicken.

The final word on the Miraval Côtes de Provence Rosé

The Miraval Côtes de Provence Rosé is so much more than just Brangelina’s beautiful wine love child. It is definitely up there as one of my favourite Rosés I’ve had. Even though it usually retails over the $30 mark, it is worth spending a little extra to get this special drop. With delicious and complex fruit flavours and a crisp finish, it is all too easy to drink, especially coming into summer!

Whether you enjoy this wine with or without food, make sure it is in the sun, just watching the world go by! This wine will transport you to the French Riviera with every sip.
